Melburnian has summed it up nicely - RED has as much future as gold - so if you think that gold will cease to be a store of value around the world (and why in gods name would you think that with gold at record prices in almost every NON IOUSA$ currencies), then sell all gold exposure and move on. But for those of us who believe that the IOUSA $ value is cyclical and must peak sooner or later, then gold remains a viable alternative to most currencies, and will remain so.
Meanwhile crypto (pseudo) currencies, which rely on vast amounts of electricity, something that will be in short supply in Europe this coming winter, are not standing the test of time, and no amount of Musk priming will change that reality.
When one looks at the gold charts, one must bear in mind that these are not inflation adjusted ... compare the gold price with Real Estate or many stocks (rather than the totally false "official" inflation statistics).
There is simply no way that gold is going back to US$1200 ... IMHO.
While the GDX and GDXJ have slumped into bear territory, many gold stocks are being valued at US$1300-1500 POG !
AISC's in Australia are being increased by labor and energy shortages.
Labor shortages, should ease, but in the longer term, will drive automation of many aspects of mining such as already happened with A.I. trucks and trains in the iron ore sector.
This will be especially appealing in long life assets like the Super Pit and KOTH.
Energy prices will moderate and this will help diesel users, but those like RED, whose KOTH has pre-COVID cheap gas prices locked in for the next 5 years, already have an additional advantage.
If "solar" electricity is so cheap, why doesn't WA miners with so much otherwise unproductive open sunny spaces, not use it much much more? After all, solar panels are supposed to last 25yrs, and nobody recycles them ??
The KOTH plant will get 90% of its electricity from gas fired plant and 10% from solar, but if it pleases the ESG purists, its could greatly expand the solar and wind (from green politicians) and produce green gold ...
RED producing Green Gold ... YES YES YES ! Order your commemorative RGG coins now and help save the world.
A fully commissioned KOTH will have optionality to increase both throughput (and hence dilute costs) and increase grade if absolutely necessary.
So, the SP must surely be considered a bargain entry point or accumulate ?
Am I the only one that thinks its strange extreme cognitive dissonance for people to be dismissing RED while promoting some remote distant speculative gold stock(s) ??
