The Ascendience review was a reasonable idea but it missed the main point. The GSQ report defined its geothermal resource as that volume of rock down to 5 km depth that would likely be hotter than 150 C.
In the Millungera Basin, with relatively high heat flow, the report modelled the 150 C degree depth as 3.2 km deep in Area A and 3.1 km in Area B.
The review should have concluded that therefore GRV will have to drill no more than 3 km in order to find the 100-120 degrees that it is looking for. The next problem would be to find a highly permeable sediment layer 2-3 km deep in the seismic that could be tested by drilling.
