CT, Just having a bit of trouble getting my little brain around the thoughts of:
If the markets were to crash by as much as 50% (possible). All this GFC and world wide turmoil basically originated in the U.S. Why would people flock to the $US dollar when their country and financial foundations would be in such disaray?
Also if gold were to go under $900 the primary trend would more than likely have reversed.
The gist of your posts is that these are indeed remarkable times. Maybe analysis of historical data and events will give us no guide to the future in this instance.
Gold could well go absolutely crazy and companies that have and are producing gold would surely follow if gold did go parabolic.
