The project still progresses, it's just not going to be fully approved anytime soon.
The Land Court process that the New Hope went through for the EA and ML is exactly the same for the AWL. My best guess for next steps:
- Minister Butcher approves AWL (timing on this is anyone's guess);
- An NGO or similar group objects to the AWL;
- Land Court process for 12-18 months solely focused on groundwater impacts;
- AWL recommended to be approved by Land Court; and
- Mining Operations can recommence.
