The MMOG market (Massively Multiplayer Online Games)is an industry that has rapidly expanded over the last 5 years. For the most part this is due to Web 2.0 technologies that support 'platform like' social media applications.

The combination of MMOG's with social media apps is yet to be fully exploited. One look at the games apps on Facebook (like Zynga's Farmville and Mafia Wars for example) is just the beginning. Through online advertising Zynga generate annualized revenue of over $300M. Interestingly, MMZ have stated that the Hot Shot Model isn't reliant solely on advertising dollars which suggests they expect to generate additional revenues from game subscriptions, competition entry fees and possibly even through sales of virtual items.

Hot Copper (a Web 2.0 trading app) is another example of the social networking revolution, which contributes to the popularity of ASX listed stocks from the users perspective. Participation ( either active or passive) is high as investors are compelled to keep tabs on their stocks 'rumours or trumours'. The 'addictive' nature of the site coupled with the networking potential of 'us' as the audience has always been the primary focus of Hot Copper who derive all their revenue from selling advertising space.

It is within this framework we are going to see more innovation as the MMOG market intercepts the social media market - and thats where Hot Shot media takes its position at the forefront of the field.
