Gaps are very important in TA, since they represent an imbalance in the market. Obviously breakway gaps can happen, but eventually even these are filled on most speccy stocks (not all). For most stocks, it's a matter of when they will be filled, rather than if. There's no rule preventing it going to $1 before coming back to fill the gaps. Insto algos can wait years to fill gaps.
