Why would ole VR give a flying F?

The odd name out on WA executive pay tallyMyriam RobinColumnistFeb 6, 2022 – 4.43pmSaveShareIt’s never nice to have one’s salary splashed through the papers. But if you’re Victor Rosenberg, there’s a whole other layer of awkwardness. The little-known founder of building materials company ClearVue Technologies was last week named the seventh best-paid West Australian executive by the Perth-based Business News. That’s because his $4.10 million total salary package is worth more than that paid to both the CFO of Wesfarmers Anthony Gianotti (on a paltry $3.72 million) and Mineral Resources’ billionaire MD Chris Ellison (on just $3.48 million). And – go figure – it’s only narrowly behind that of Fortescue’s Elizabeth Gaines ($4.76 million) and Seven’s Ryan Stokes (on $4.79 million), on a list topped by Wesfarmers’ Rob Scott (on $6.93 million).ClearVue founder and chief executive Victor Rosenberg with an early prototype. Emma YoungBut one of these is not like the others. The loss-making ClearVue’s entire market capitalisation sits at $74 million. And that’s after its share price last month surged 71.4 per cent on news its solar-power generating clear glass had helped a six-storey office building project model a net-zero energy usage figure in Canada. As for Rosenberg’s hefty pay, most of it came in the form of options and performance rights. Precisely $3.84 million worth of them, on top of his cash salary and super. At least it appears to be a one-off. A year earlier, Rosenberg’s take was listed at a far more modest $226,000. At last November’s annual meeting, no one appeared much bothered to vote against the remuneration report.
