How long will prices last for is what I'm more concerned about. Coal will be with us for the rest of our lives, I am not one of those people pushing for renewables the facts are obvious and renewable energy is not anywhere close to sufficient. But the price of coal is what differentiates the WHC today from the boring old stock it was just a couple years ago.
Genuine question, considering that most of the appreciation in the price of coal was caused by sanctions imposed on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine, is there any reason to believe that when the Russian-Ukraine conflict comes to an end the price of coal won't just drop back to pre-war levels? Will the sanctions remain in place for some time after and if not, what other factors will keep prices elevated? The war will be over, whether that is in 1 year or 10 years who knows but I believe that the market is concerned about what happens after that.
