It is important to remember that;
1) Truth is not a defence against a charge of defamation in Australia.
2) A company goes to court with shareholders money and the execs are prepared to spend it. A company can easily bankrupt most individuals just by instituting legal proceedings.
3) If you successfully defend the charge you are probably still bankrupt.
4)The case in the example was 'resolved'. It wasn't concluded by the judge. The poster would have just given in to stop the huge legal costs.
It is a grim day for free speech.
