    Yes, called swell factor, all the more reason to be suspicious. BUT as said the photo reolution is poor and I dont want to be called an idiot down the track so pure speculation. I could make an enquiry with the department of mines but they wont tell you the resulte of any inquiry.

    I know of one alluvial prospector who had an areement with a company to do alluvial work. They said you can go to 4m, he wasn't so good with the tape measure and actually went about 5m deep. The company manager came around with a guy from the environmental section of the Mines Dept and asked him to fill in the trench and vacate. They dont seem to be too militant about it they just like the ground to be rehabilitaed to the standard. If the ground looks level after it's been rehabed that's a sure sign that some dirt has been taken away. Because of the swell factor there should be a hump.
