from the descriptions I've seen/read the relevant parties were following a business formula that isolates players from their respective backgrounds. this has been reported for many years..
certainly the graphic descriptions are horrific, but is this any different to how other players are "managed"?
its the culture of AFL and NRL clubs to focus on the business end of these games. its not so much about the players and the success of the teams and the profits for the club.
