This is the case 90% of the time for me too. However quite often some shops do not have EFTPOS facilities and a hand invoice needs to be written out with ABN stamped on the back. I've been told as long as the ABN, Date & Price are stamped then it's fine.
For motels sometimes the person on duty does not know how to print off the tax invoice. Usually it's not an issue, they either email it to me, post it or fax it straight to the office. I always leave a business card and take one of theirs if this is happening. In 2 years and probably 100+ different hotels I have never had a problem.
Again, I have phoned, faxed and emailed. They don't understand.
At the end of the day I'm out of pocket $300 and I'd like to take some action.
