Does big business conduct themselves virtuously? Is appearing not actually being virtuous what matters?

For example, "net zero" being nothing more than a catchphrase. Something not to worry about until 2049. Then therewill be some reason to delay it again.

Tree planting for carbon capture. Just " green colonialism"giving rural and indigenous people less rights on theirtraditional land. But it looks good on a website.

Companies play with wording or play with the figures to make itlook at first glance like they are going green. BP were caught out doing this.

Bayer/Monsanto merger supplying most of the worlds food? Bayer may be the worst company that care about peoples health with there track record.

Even the vegan movement with companies like “ Beyond Meat” promoting processed foods with not only little nutritional value, but probably a worse impact to land and animals than grass fed beef.

Is investing in gas worse than investing in cobalt that is used in EV batteries for instance? Children as young as seven are mining cobalt in the Congo. But EV batteries are seen as green.

Do we as investors need to dig deeper into our investment decisions or is a good return all that matters?

While our un-virtuous/ un-educated/un-caring investment actions may supply us with wealth externally will our internal souls be in disharmony?
