Apparently, cigarettes were recommended for most military forces, WW1, WW2, US, UK, AUS, because it was the only drug that would lift you up (high), and calm you at the same time.
Trials on rats showed that they would not, as normally, go to drink water first, after being exposed to the effects of nicotine, .. but would go straight to nicotine offered to them at the same time.
As a reformed smoker, I found it hard to give it up about 30 years ago, .. but I always believed that if I could even decrease the amount I smoked each day, that was a good start to giving it up completely.
It is unbelievable that the Tobacco Co's are still allowed to market a toxic product to the public.
It is also unbelievable that you are allowed to drive a car while holding a piece of burning material in your hand !!!
