The choices you make are an expression of how you think. How you think is an expression of who you are. Who you are depends on your genetic makeup, social circumstances, family, nation, culture, life experiences, etcetera.....nothing is as simple as your theology tries to make out. ------------------- Cain and Abel had similar backgrounds and influences that would shape their lives but made entirely different choices.
(1 John 3:11, 12) For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 12 not like Cain, who originated with the wicked one and slaughtered his brother. And for what reason did he slaughter him? Because his own works were wicked, but those of his brother were righteous.
It's not as though God abandoned them to the bad upbringing of their rebellious parents. While Abel remained faithful, Cain failed to heed counsel.
(Genesis 4:6, 7) Then Jehovah said to Cain: “Why are you so angry and dejected? 7 If you turn to doing good, will you not be restored to favor? But if you do not turn to doing good, sin is crouching at the door, and its craving is to dominate you; but will you get the mastery over it?”
Cain stubbornly chose to ignore the advice. On the other hand, there are plenty of examples of lives being changed for the better because of heeding Bible counsel.
