Dan, I agree that the current battery tech isn't up to providing the same distance as my old Peugeot with its 1,000 km tank. but this doesn't imply that EVs aren't up to the task if the recharging stations are well placed and charging times are reduced. these are the two only points you have against EVs. performance and torque are pretty hot according to owners.
its the battery tech that limits EVs and this is changing quickly. by the time EVs are the only new cars available battery tech will have improved to take up the slack imo... but more importantly are alternative technologies such as hydrogen.
all new tech takes a while to iron out the wrinkles and bugs.
