I'll have a go.........

1) as giz said Apple i-phone is big in US, but only around 20% of world. Samsung bigger around 23% then Hauwei around 15% then half a dozen others.

2). Note the new apple comes with satellite emergency contact. THIS IS BIG. It tells us that connectivity (coverage) is the big issue. It would be a lot of effort for Apple to arrange that. You can have all the fancy cameras and whatever, but coverage is number 1.

3) Apple is aiming upmarket with esim for now. That's where the US excels at. You can have all rhe cheao stuff in india or other places but Apple with esim are after the sophisticated market. Leave the kids and mom and pop who wish to contact uncle george to the sim people. They will be slow adapters to esim.

4) second thoughts, don't leave this segment of the market........keep bringing out sim card models for the time being. Best of both worlds. Esim for the future, sim card for the laggards.

5) get it. Apple still have to compete with the others, but still want to lead the way.

6) this is good for flexiroam, as Apple upmarket e-sim sophisticated customers are Flexiroam's customers.

go read the story of the Indian businessman who spent the price of a new phone flying to Dubai fro India, to line up to be the first to but the new apple phone. They are our target segment, not the mums and dad or the kids....they don't travel.
