Sorry to uset most of you. We are actually one of the most Urbanised countries on earth. (in the Western World)Qld. is the only truly decentralized state.. So EVs could be good in our cities, but no good for our highways. The problem for EVs is the distance between our population centres. So. It is a matter of using the correct tools for the job.

As I have said before; if they made small cheap EVs for commuting (Under $15K I would be the first to buy one. 150K range would be perfect. I could even used a motorized wheelchair to go to the club or the shops, except when it rains. But if I were off to Cairns, I would fire up the V6 ute. There is no bloody way I would pay 40K to 90K or more for a car, that will take me four days to get to Cairns.
For instance: I use a Cordless Drill 90% of the time - usually two of them wit different tools in each, plus a spare Battery Pak. It is great. But if I want to drill several large holes in steel, or any really hard material, I bring the job to the workshop, and use the 240V Drill. If I wish to tow something heavy, I use the Ute. With a 4.1 diff and the Commodore V6, towing is a cinch. The torque of an DEV shoulldbbe good for towing too, but battery capacity is inadequate. So too with even an 18V Cordless. See how long the charge lasts drilling 5mm to 20mm steel. At 20mm I used to get about 4 12.5mm holes. Thicker or harder, forget it.
The same applies to Cars. USE THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB.....Marum.(The peripatetic engineer)
