I think both of you should just agree that shorting is an issue for both stocks, and now has commenced for ASN given where SP headed last few months (and shorting happened earlier for LKE because its SP also took off at some point). The issue with shorting is actually the shorts as a % of number of shares traded in a day (not shorts as a % of total script). It is clear that both are now above 10%, LKE would have been at some point, and shorting has been/is an issue for both stocks.

Having been in ADN when shorting started in the 40c, you don't have to be an Einstein to work out what collective shorting can do and it is something that has always pissed me off about shorting, ASIC and the ASX as retail just get screwed. It is why in my post I talked about SH exhaustion - constant drip feed lower of 1 or 2 shares means at some point SHs get pissed off and just bail send the price south. Recovery takes time after that because of the level of trapped holders. Shorters say it is good for the market bla bla bla bloa, but in reality if I robbed a bank I would be jailed, but shorting on the ASX is considered legal LOL and disguished on the premise that it allows an efficient market bla bla bla, but that only is true if there was perfect certainty in the world by people have access to all information in the now, which is just a fantasy, and hence the problem I have with shorting.

When you see shorting, retail need to make a decision as to whether they join in and come back later, and often the issue with that decision is investors feel that shorting might be short term on the stock - often it is, sometimes it is not (refer ADN and looks like LKE too)

What will give ASN impetus IMO is going to have to be a binding offtake which gives the market confidence of moving to production.
