I actually hit my WHC 10-bag last trading day! Buy price $1.08 for my last parcel. I have another parcel at $3-something so that's a while away yet.

I've had two 10-baggers before, LNC and LYC and sold out both of them at the right time. LNC was actually a 20 bagger and then ended up going bankrupt. Unfortunately both only small holdings which is why I'm not retired. I should have had a 10-bagger at KGN ($2.10 buy) but sold out at 5x just before the pandemic then watched it shoot up from my sell price of $10 to $25, so I have had both sides of the equation.

Three suggested methods for dealing with it psychologically:

1. Set a target sell price and just stick to it. Use a conditional order if you need to. Be aware that it's easy to pick tops and bottoms with hindsight but impossible to do it in advance, so forgive yourself if you have a situation like me with KGN where you sell out and the stock continues to rise. If that happens like it did with me and KGN, console yourself that you still made a big profit and move on.

2. Set a trailing stop with a fairly wide gap. Most brokers will let you set one automatically, Commsec does. Then forget it and let the algorithm do the work. This means you are guaranteed to miss the top but you'll still get out near the top. This is fairly safe unless there's a big temporary correction that triggers your stop and then shoots upwards again, but I don't think that's as much of a risk with a big commodity company like WHC, it's more a small cap problem.

3. Sell half your order and hold the other half with a trailing stop, which basically combines #1 and #2. You get upside if it continues to climb and you've locked in profits if it slides.

Above all, the key to dealing with 10 baggers is not to fall into the trap of blaming yourself for missing the top. Hindsight is 20-20.
