Seeing as no time limit has been set. How does near twenty years sound to get to this stage

WPL : bought in 1990-91 for around $2.60. Dividend alone has paid initial investment back many time over. Still holding, and hopefully by the time of my official retirement age, WPL will be at least $200 per share.

CBA : bought into the initial float for $5.40, and again in the second float. Sold for fifty something dollars a few years back. Once again, the dividend alone paid back the initial investment many times over.
