you sound like you need some intellectual challenge. Not sure how you can find something that "grabs" you atm, your life sounds pretty full with work and family! (Its the busy, busy, cycle for you now)
Maybe whilst you're at work listen to ABC radio or some station that has interesting talkbacks - there's often some inspirational stuff on during the day, might give you some leads.
Alternatively do some reading - catch up on some of the latest bestsellers, if you like fiction or try some inspirational type books (and I don't mean corny ones). Find a good bookshop and get some recs from knowledgeable ppl. Read some of the modern writers with original ideas like Malcolm Gladwell "The Tipping Point", "Outliers" etc
Reckon the idea of planting a vegie garden with your 4yo would be great, good for the family diet too and might be the beginning of a lifelong passion? Just got to keep trying different things to find the one that devours you.
