With exception of nickel-cadmium battery and solar panels the use of cadmium is decreasing in all other applications.
The decrease is due to the high toxicity and carcinogenicity of cadmium.
Some sources of phosphate in fertilizers contain Cadmium in amounts of up to 100 mg/kg, which can lead to an increase in the concentration of Cadmium in soil (for example in New Zealand)
