Simple- cost of raw materials are high means building house, making cars, steel everything goes up. Company has to increase product price to make profit. If they can't, liquidation is avoidable. Best example, Australian housing market, higher commodity prices and bankruptcy of lots of reputable builders. Even Tesla gives 50% discounts on their car, still average Joe can't afford it. Chinese car will never take our western and Japanese car market share. Chinese products never have good reputation. Cost is similar to our products because you have to replace it 3 times.
