Shaw most probably gave the nurse a little bundle and he is now the possessor of two vials of his blood. He's not stupid.
What I can't understand is why can't there be a police investigation into his evening. Surely there were people there who saw him getting drunk. Surely they can be summonsed and surely there would be the one or two witnesses who might in fact have warned him not to drive home! Why would that not be enough?
