Botswana is one of the best managed if not the best-managed countries in Africa with a suitably good standard of living. It's atypical. Especially the non-kleptocracy part.
The only real group with a problem are the San also known as the Bushmen. That partially stems from the degree of change required for an ancient people. The government tries to ameliorate the gap much like in Aust.
Of course, SFR knew this when they decided To mine there. They were not going to go to a totally unbalanced, for want of a better word, country.
