From the Feb 22 Ann: Upon commissioning of the plant, the first focus of the testing program will be on placing samples of brown coal / lignite within the Test Vessel and exposing them to the Underground Coal to Liquids (UCTLTM) high velocity / temperature water spray with supercritical properties (WSP). Other samples of Canadian oil sands are intended to be included in the surface testing program. Regulatory approvals for the surface testing have been secured. It is anticipated that a significant amount of information will be gained from utilising the Test Vessel. While the surface testing is underway, pressure testing of the existing wells will be completed prior to transferring the UCTLTM trials process underground, which is expected to commence in March 2010. Upon completion of analysis of the products produced from the testing processes, Regal will make further announcements to the market.......... ............The aim of the Pilot Test at Oak Park is to prove that the UCTLTM process can convert low rank brown coal / lignite into valuable commodities in an above ground environment and also within the coal seam to produce crude oil that is acceptable to existing refineries, gas for domestic supply or power generation and heat for use in electricity generation. The Pilot Test aims to verify the production of long-chain hydrocarbons with low CO2 emissions.
