Neither does donating to medical research (eg Telethon - WA). Millions poured in each year by these companies - so using your analogy with sporing events the same can be said with other charitable events.
The discussion would be vastly different if organisations did not pour millions into communities.
If Beach do want to take on any sponsorship, I can think of a very small charitable organisation close to my hear that they can support and it does not need to be 6 figures. 4 or 5 figure amounts would be welcoming.
