No, I don't believe it's that. I find what the judge has said to be unbelievable. The members of the jury have spent days deliberating and have formed their own opinions, exactly what jurors are meant to do. That is why the make up of the jury is people, normal people, from different backgrounds. But what the judge is saying is that even if some of you have contrasting opinions, you must have the same opinion. How stressful would that be? The judge must step in and talk to them about their issues, and make a decision. Otherwise we're paying judges mega bucks just to pass on the findings of people who might earn bugger all.

It's ridiculous. Surely if they can't agree then the judge should call 'not guilty '. If there is any doubt it has to be not guilty. It shouldn't take this long, its embarrassing and causing stress to the accused.
