building a decline, page-22

Hi Plough, TKM's = Tonnes per Kilometre. Calculates the Load/Speed/Timing/Cost.
The curves in relation where basically worked out on what I have read from here, ie: Shaft dimensions, expected tonnes per annum, factored in a Decline size that was mentioned as 3.5mx3.5m, the crossing point only relates to Ventilation (Intake and Exhaust) and indicates that at around 800 vertical metres (with assumed Mining Equipement) you will stop sucking through a hose and start to suck through a straw. If the minimum air flow required is 0.5m/p/s then with the Shaft dimensions and the Decline dimension then the curve indicates you will drop below your minimum flow requirements to run equipement, so something has to give, hence why I mentioned the 4m x 4.5m Decline, more air volume to play with and less equipement sucking all the air.
This is only based on a stand alone shaft and a Decline and cystal balling into next decade if a Decline was to be utilised at Depth for future planning, then I would hate to see them end up with a Telfer problem encountered in 98'
    Cheers
