Spoke with Lea from Tiec electrical today, top bloke full of knowledge.
He is flat out all over WA installing off grid systems for businesses, farms and large (well off) property owners
Tiec Only installs Redflow and solar, the limitating factor over here for anyone wanting to potentially install a larger than required system
to export to the grid is Western Power will limit your feed In tariff accordingly (at their discretion) so as not to lose out on profits too much….. This is preventing the uptake of private investment of property owners supporting the grid feed with solar, wind, battery etc… So at this stage, for Western Australia at least if you are rural, have a higher than average power demand or have a limited/poor grid feed and want to secure your own serviceable energy source then an off grid system with back up grid supply
or generator supply is a good solution that can quite easily give you a return on your investment.
A tipping point will come, I believe when a quality system choice to provide your own power will be more cost effective than
paying for a grid supply.
At this stage Western Australia does not have such high prices as the eastern states, though this may not stay forever?
On a side note interestingly, Lea said he has been replacing 5year old lithium batteries that are failing on duration performance
after being cycled constantly for half their rated lifetime…..
Cheers all
Hold tight…
