The fact that Labor Backbencher (Darren Chesseman) hinted that Gillard will be replacing Rudd in the near future shows not even his own party really support him and will dump him like garbage if there is any hint of him damaging the Labor party . After Rudd most likely wins the 2010 election it wouldn't surprise me if he is replaced by Gillard within 2 years. Labor are famous for constantly changing their leaders to give themselves positive spin to win elections. Just look at the messed up state Labor Governments; that is where we are heading Federally.
