Personally, I would not want HZN to take a bigger position in Maari. The decomm costs should not be underestimated. IMO the NZ regulators would not give them licence to operate whole asset without considerable $$$ reserved for end of field life remediation. The NOGA story is a good example of regulator not understanding the risks.
It also doesnt take much of an operational issue in mature late lfe assets to flip into loss making mode.
