The US has relied on the use of force/the threat of the use of force since
WW2 to remain the global dominant power and of course the West expects China to act like the USA....eh?
The US objective is to contain China economically and eventually
(like what it did to the USSR) cause China to implode economically
and break up into a plethora of ineffectual states.
That is an aggressive assault on an industrially rising economy.
This IMO, is economic war and the current Ukraine war is merely
a temporary distraction, The question is will the Ukraine War weaken China more
than the USA. Current GDP growth & Inflation in both countries would seem to
trend towards China's favour.
Just consider the Opposite:
Imagine if the USA were to be surrounded by Chinese Subs, Warplanes, Warships and Nuke
Bombers flying 24/7 within 500 kms of its borders and as a bonus China was aiding/abetting Alaska or
Hawai to break away from the USA and become independent states.......how would you be...eh?
America knows that historically the country over time that has the biggest GDP driven by
manufacturing and trade will become the global hegemon (it has done so itself) and that
is why the USA is hellbent to stymie China's growth because the USA is simply incapable
of keeping ahead of China by US growth alone.
Its like an American Cup head to head race; if you are incapable of outsailing your competitor
then the second best thing is to take the wind out of his sails and so it is with the USA vs China at present, IMO.
Of course such strategies historically have mostly led to war. (see Destined to War....G Allison)
