You have all covered this from all angles and may not need any more input. But, is it possible that MEO is stage managing the news. Stage 1 trading halt and point the finger elsewhere. Stage 2 suspension, declare that it's not their fault???
I remember this company from the Timor sea drilling, so they do have experience in announcement management???
