    Hi all,
and here’s another impending project NRW may wish to be involved with?
(It seems there *is* more work out there than NRW can shake a stick at?)

    Cheers

Perth Airport has released its blueprint for major development plans that will pave the way for construction of a long-awaited second runway.
The preliminary draft plan for upgrades to the airport’s central hub aims to support a doubling of annual passenger growth to 25 million by 2040.
Chief executive Kevin Brown said the works would provide additional airfield capacity to ensure the future new parallel runway could connect seamlessly with existing infrastructure, including terminals. They will also help to consolidate all commercial air services into the central precinct on the eastern side of the airport.

“The project will support the Western Australian and national economy by delivering jobs and facilitating the growth of the important resource and tourism industries,” Mr Brown said.
“The project construction will inject $565 million into the local economy and will employ 973 directly and more than 3500 indirect jobs.”

Along with a second runway, Perth Airport plans to spend up to $2.5 billion building new facilities over the next decade, including an expanded international terminal and new facilities that will bring together all of Qantas Group’s operations into the central precinct.
Work is also due to start shortly on the airport’s first multi-storey car park in front of Terminal 1, which forms part of a $370m project that will change the way people access the airport by road.
“These developments support growth, increase efficiency and produce a better customer experience for our passengers and are important steps which ensure that our infrastructure development coincides with the predicted growth,” Mr Brown said

The scope of works within the preliminary major development plan includes site preparation, earthworks, service diversions, construction of concrete aprons, taxi lanes and a flexible pavement airfield taxiway system.
The Perth Airport Experience Centre will be open for community drop-in sessions during the public comment period and the draft is also available on the airport’s website. Submissions close on January 31 next year.
