private school or buy them a house?, page-43

two aspects here ...
1) Education - Public or Private
2) Money saved by going to Public schools - how to invest?

On the first note - we are at a similar stage in life - a major factor to note ...most (99%) of our friends who are teachers or professors in the public system have their kids in private schools...It's a case of not what I say but what I do!! Private education does not just offer education but also finshes the final product...which will stay on thru life...Having said that the difference in a $250 education vs $12500 education is not so vast to justify the ROI :) so options could be to look at scholarship of some sorts... MY choice of preference
1) Private school (if on a scholarship
2) Good Public school( in a good socio economic suburb in u r city)
3) a well renowned Catholic school....

Networking at Private schools probably plays a larger role for boys( am i being sexist?:) so is a factor to consider if u r kids are boys,..

On aspect no 2) it is your call ..but as another poster pointed out it is better to teach the kids to fish ...than actually fishing and handing it over to them:) rgds
