No one from Cougar Energy - I was bitterly disappointed as I was told they would be there - my informant was wrong.

3 guest speakers - local teacher presentation highlighting the dangers of UCG process (the unknown factor). Benzene, Heavy Metals, Uranium, Arsenic & Mercury left behind in coal ash to contaminate underground water, affects of subsidence. Affects on the town water supply dam (Gordonbrook Dam), Boondoomba Dam & Bjelke Petersen Dam.

Toby Hutcheon from the Queensland Conservation Council. Said UCG was experimental, there is too much risk - wants people to lobby Qld Government to stop the process.

Lorissa (? the spelling) Wells, Greens candidate for the Senate & Lawyer. Spoke about the Law & the people who may be affected. She gave ideas as to how to go about stopping the Cougar process. She suggested many things including getting the media involved - 4 corners, Today Tonight, 60 minutes atc among other things.

The Chairman summed up by saying he would not stand in the way of progress but he wanted an ironclad guarantee that there would be no environmental impact.
