I'm speaking from a position of ignorance but I think the placement was/is real. I think the shareprice approached 70c as the big players held off buying on-market in the hope they could pick up some placement shares and probably some of those with a firm allocation of 70c shares dumped some of their existing holdings well above that price.

Hopefully Friday's action means that the placement is largely completed and those who missed out (or who wanted more than they got) have resumed buying on-market. Time (and maybe an ASX ann. later today) will tell.

I suspect it could have been better handled though; as they say if you have to choose between a conspiracy and a stuff-up, go with the latter and you'll be right 9 times out of 10.
