I have been following the development of the DP project for over 10 years and there have been many ups and downs over the years. The major up was the Zircon tech development and the building of the plant in SK. While this development seems at the moment to be a bit slow, I look at the progress that has been made in the last two years, we have a plant, just need to have the confirmed offtakes. As far as the announcements go there is nothing in them that indicates to me a decreased in interest from the SK. The product is definitely needed, many years of research have gone into the development and refining of the new LK process. Maybe there has been some teething issues but the last quarterly indicated that for the REE metals these have been resolved and we are just waiting on firm commitments for offtakes.
Testing is still underway for the CuTi component and is again waiting on confirmed offtakes.
The flow sheet for DP has also undergone many years of pilot testing and the ongoing involvement of ANSTO at the pilot plant just indicates that they are ensuring the best possible mix of products to improve profitability.
I will be taking part in the SPP as despite the delays progress is still being made and nobody can match the match the breakthroughs that have been achieved in the separation of Zirconium and Hafnium that was done at the pilot plant and the cost savings and environmental improvements in metal refining that has been demonstrated using the LK process.
Lets see what Rowena can deliver over the next few months as indicated by the advanced discussions mentioned in the last quarterly.
