USA banks created GFC.
Some small banks in Australia have come close to failure but other big banks stepped in and saved them by buying the small bank.
Yes definitely some rorts in ausie banks, but cleaning up their acts now, and this may mean lower profits and dividends especially in low interest rate environment.
