could it be that the big dogs want to get their hands on their performance shares at a lower price before it takes off? i believe they have to pay tax on them regardless of whether they sell or not once they've acquired them. id assume getting them at a lower price would save them some tax money.

you don't pay tax of shares, regardless of how u receive them, until u sell them
