    Hi Ken,
Yes, I am well aware there are emerging solutions and I'm hoping for the Mg battery to be the main one. I have no problems with LMG sourcing energy from fossil fuels - in today's world it just helps to say that they are using energy from renewable sources. I have lived in places where it's rained for 3-4 weeks(truly biblical) and don't see the sun so there will need a good bank of storage.

Fact is, I don't think renewables will meet all our energy demands - it will offset a part of energy demand that otherwise would have been generated by fossil fuels and that's a good thing but coal/oils will continue to be combusted for many decades and probably centuries along with gas. I measured atmospheric CO2 back in the early 70's at below 200ppm. When I retired a few years ago I measured it well over 400ppm.

Who are we to tell developing nations they must use renewables after the western world got fat and wealthy on fossil fuels? Who are we to tell them to leave their coal and gas in the ground and not touch it? Rhetorical questions not directed solely to you. It seems the western world wants them to to be the sacrificial lambs and compensate for the western world's impacts of the past.

    Anyway, getting off topic.
