Thailand’sBoardofInvestment (BOI)recentlyannouncedadditionalsupportmeasuresforinvestmentandpromotionofEVswithan8-yearcorporatetaxexemptionforbatterymanufacturersanda3-5yearexemptionforchargingstationbusinesses.Thisistosupporttheinstallationof ‘EVchargers’inofficebuildings,condominiumsandshoppingmallswhichoriginallyfocusingonpetrolstationsonly.TheBOIhasalreadyapproved26EVmanufacturingprojectsfrom17companiesin2022.TheprojectshaveacombinedinvestmentvalueofTHB80.208billion.ThusfartheBOIhasapprovedtaxbenefitsfortheproductionof838,775EVsandissuedpromotioncertificatesformanufacturingsedans,pick-uptrucksandmotorcycles.
ThenewmeasuresareexpectedtoattractmoreinvestorstoEVbatteryandchargingstationprojects.ThesedevelopmentsarepavingthewayforThailandtopositionasthenewEVhubofAsia.Theresult,EVbusinessesandsupplychainsaresettofurtherbenefitmakingElectricVehicleAsia2023amustexhibitshowoftheyear.IfyouaremanufacturersordistributorsofEVrelatetechnologies,thenthisisthemajorplatformtomeetanddobusinesswithkeyplayersinThailand’sandASEAN’sEVindustry.
