Gee, talk about "the law of unintended consequences"......."the ultimate outcome" will be that Russia is faced with even more NATO members on its borders than previously, when Sweden and Finland become members. Also, if Russia does manage to retain the parts of eastern Ukraine that it claims to have annexed, Russia's SW border will be even closer to the border of Poland, also a NATO member.

So, despite Putin claiming the SMO (cough, cough...) was because of his NATO-phobia, he'll end up being even more exposed to NATO members than before.
