Anyone who has lived by a major river like the great Murray would know either side there are swamps, lakes and wetlands which fill from the river when it overflows.
Now Fed Minister Tanya Plibersek wants water for "Environment Flows" to fill these occasional catchments ALL the time. This messing with natural processes will end in tears.
Already there are warnings European Carp breeding will go into overdrive outcompeting native species.
If the politicians have to meddle with everything: Build some dams.
