The most critical determinant of any investment is always the price one pays to acquire it.
Paying a premium to acquire an asset makes outsized returns difficult but not impossible.
Buying at a discount makes outsized returns possible but not guaranteed.
None of us can see the future we simply place our bets on what we see as most likely from one's own perspective of value.
