The question I have is whether a big fish would consider a buyout offer that's many multiples the current market cap. With 17.45 million shares currently fully diluted, a $2.5 billion USD buyout offer would be $210 per share AUD. That's a massive jump from where we are now obviously. I guess if Medtronic or Edwards wanted the DurAVR bad enough they would do it, but paying something like 8.7x the current share price is not something I remember seeing, although I'm not that well versed in arbitrage history.
I'm patient and in no hurry to get bought out, and am a happy shareholder knowing that Wayne may decide to go it alone to commercialization, but I wonder what effect the share price has on companies that may be discussing internally the possibility of floating an offer. I do think that more exposure to US investors and increased volume for AMEUF (or the eventual Nasdaq equivalent) would be beneficial after news events like the EFS announcement. AMEUF volume increased the last couple of days but there were still only 20,000 shares traded the last two days combined, which is better than the typical day of no volume but far from ideal.
