Getting approvals through the WA dept of mines has been fraught with problems ever since this WA government came to power. A change in the attitude of the department was implemented so that the staff were no longer prepared to assist the applicants. In the past the department officials would advise the applicants of any missed information and in some cases they filled in the necessary informaton for the applicants. But not any more. Changes to the processing procedure are not communicated to the applicants so when they are preparing a resubmitted application the applicant may still miss some scant bit of knowledge that is required. NWE went through much of this change when applying for the drilling of Xanadu. The delays cost NWE 12 months. Many of you will remember the saga that we went through and the special interview that "pumper" did with the head of the processing section during the delays and the knowledge that was forthcoming. This appears to me like we are facing the same bureaucratic nightmare.

good points, but i would think that given the expected looming gas shortfall facing the planet, then any government worth it's salt would be frantically instructing that approval processes for high end sources were accelerated!
