This is far from the best video I've viewed, but at 2:37 to 3:59, there were 16 LAU railable containers on a July 2022 Perth to Sydney intermodal freight, a very good number.

Even if some return empty form Perth, one assumes LAU has made a profit. The company's accounts suggest that in no uncertain terms.

The scenic Cullerin Ranges are on the Sydney to Melbourne main line between Goulburn and Yass Junction NSW, with a variety of trains using this route including the twice daily each way XPT intercapital railcars. It can be very busy at night given the amount of grain being hauled to the GNC facilities at Port Kembla NSW.

Sydney-Perth or vice versa intermodals (container trains) often use the Campbelltown-Goulburn-Cootamundra West-Forbes-Goobang Junction (near Parkes, NSW)- Broken Hill route instead of travelling via the hilly Blue Mountains. As of today however they are continuing to divert via Broadmeadows, North Shore and Horsham in Victoria due to flooding at Condobolin and Euabalong West, NSW that has shut part of the Broken Hill line.
